Teacher Traininy Faculty 2009
Katerina Wen, M.Ed., D.Hom, RYT
Program director
Katerina recognized her passion for teaching at an early
age, and has been dedicated to the practice of Yoga since 1991. Katerina
has a rich
educational background in fine arts, academic teaching, holistic healing
and spiritual science. Grounded in many traditional yoga paths, she
has been formally trained in the lineage of Krishnamacharyra, and has
also worked extensively with Ana Forrest, Andrey Lappa, Edward Clark,
Tias Little, and Sonia Sumar. Although she is now seen as an advanced
yogini and as an exceptional teacher, Katerina in fact herself came
to yoga with physical challenges and injuries. Over the years, she
has developed valuable techniques and creative methods that allow ways
for her students to develop and advance in a remarkably rapid fashion.
Katerina teaches yoga in a way that is imaginative,
highly disciplined, and compassionate. A typical class incorporates dynamic
rotation in space,
pranayama, mudra & bandha engagement (breath and energetic articulation).
Yantrayana (visualization of sacred geometry) and meditation are also
distinctive elements in her teaching.
Katerina’s signature style is represented in the artistry of her
complex sequencing and the ability to tend to the uniqueness of each
individual student. She is appreciated for her ability to challenge students
to explore new terrain and inspire them to refine their inner connection
and bring depth and elegance to their practice. Her work aims to strengthen
the student’s intention for self-searching and inner expansion.
Katerina possesses a wealth of information in yoga
and has been an influential figure for serious practitioners and also
for many professional teachers
in the Northwest region. She is the director of Yogi Way yoga studio,
from where she conducts specialized workshops, teacher trainings, and
retreats on a regular basis.
After having taking 6 teacher trainings with world famous
master teachers, as well as personally organizing and overseeing 3 teacher
training programs
here in Seattle, Katerina has put together an outstanding curriculum
that consolidates the best aspects of her years of experience and research.
She is excited to share…
In this teacher training program, Katerina offers you unique tools, such
as:
- The magic of teaching- How to be an effective, well-rounded
yoga teacher
- The art and science of yoga in health and everyday living
- Resourceful techniques for how to advance rapidly in your personal practice
